Catastrophe in Japan

Yesterday, Japan was struck with the catastrophic power of nature, the 8.9 magnitude earthquake followed by a tsunami that hit some places like Sendai with a 10m wave. The quake is said to be the 5th largest recorded, and with the tsunami, has caused over 1000 people to be dead or missing, as well as blackouts and fires…

Four trains are missing along the coast.
A ship carrying 100 passengers has been swept away by the tsunami.
About 1,800 homes have been destroyed in Minamisoma, Fukushima prefecture.
In the Sendai, 60,000 to 70,000 people were being evacuated to shelters.

For those of you who may have family members and friends in Japan, Google has set up a person finder that you may find helpful.

If you would like to make donations, you can do so through the American Red Cross website or text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10. You can also donate to Save the Children who are focusing on the needs of the children and their families affected by the disaster.

Stay strong Japan.
